Homeowners looking to remodel now have tech tools to help. From easing the contractor search to helping find the right projects, two tools, in particular, can make remodeling a breeze.

The new Home Addition Calculator is designed to help homeowners estimate the value of adding a bedroom, bathroom, pool or other addition to their property.

The tool uses public information as well as local market factors — like MLS sales, listing data, etc. — to estimate property values and provide real-time estimated project values. HouseCanary and Marcus by Goldman Sachs released the calculator last week.

According to Abhinav Anand, head of lending at Marcus by Goldman Sachs, the tool can help homeowners hone in on which home addition projects are worth the investment.

“Our free home addition calculator provides homeowners an estimate of how much an addition could impact the value of their home and helps them make smarter financial decisions,” Anand said.

Streamlining the contractor search
